Illustration

I am passionate about illustration, a form of visual storytelling that raises imagination, transcends rules and creates surreal scenes. Therefore beyond graphic design projects that sometimes intersect with illustration, I am engaged with illustration as a personal passion from time to time.

But last year I dedicated more time and effort to illustration, since my goal is to enhance my graphic design competencies and learn illustration. Ultimately, I have an ambitious goal which is to retelling Iranian literature and stories in visual words that are compatible with the contemporary era. Especially Shahnameh (epic poems by Ferdowsi), which made me extremely interested in storytelling.

Here are some of my illustrations. One example is ‘Div in the City’ which is drawn with colored pencils on paper. I was inspired by my personal challenges and Persian literature helped me visualize the situation. The div represents evil in Iranian literature, and the heroes of Shahnameh are constantly battling it whether it manifests internally or externally. Finally, the concept of ‘div’ has remained relevant to the contemporary era, and in response to my own life challenges, I created ‘Div in the City’.
